Ok, this is one of those situations where you have to ask, what are they hiding? The White House is planning to recycle backup tapes used for email. What happened to public record retention? This should be illegal.
flickr has just done a really interesting mashup with the Library of Congress that DC Technofile Justin Thorp was involved with. According to Justin, more than 500,000 photos were viewed in the course of two days. Overall the project generated around 1.1 million page views in a few short days. The best part is the content being served up for the public. There are some amazing photos available to view and interact with. That is right, I said interact with, you can add text to the photos which is something that the Library of Congress hopes that you will do. This is essentially a volunteer driven Mechanical Turk type program.
If the time you spend watching your Sunday morning political talk shows just isn’t enough you can tune into what people are twittering about the 2008 Presidential Race using this site created by some guys here in the District.
